Every material in a Marosi piece is chosen before it is designed. What a stone is, and what it has been through, decides where it belongs.

Natural stones, not crystal

Every stone we set is a natural gemstone, formed in rock over geological time. Nothing is glass, resin or moulded imitation.

The word crystal is used loosely in jewellery, and often it describes cut glass rather than mineral. We prefer to name things precisely. Amethyst is quartz, coloured violet by iron and natural radiation across millions of years. Rhodolite is a garnet, and garnet records the temperature and pressure it grew under, held in its structure long after the mountain that made it has worn away. Chrysocolla forms where copper-bearing water moves through fractured rock, and its veining is the path that water took, held still.

Because these stones are natural, no two are identical. Colour, clarity and inclusion vary between pieces. That variation is the evidence of origin, and we consider it part of the work rather than a flaw in it.

925 sterling silver

Our pieces are built on solid 925 sterling silver, the standard for fine jewellery: 92.5 percent pure silver, alloyed for strength. It holds detail, takes a hand finish, and can be repaired and re-polished for as long as you wear it.

18k gold vermeil, at 2.5 microns

Vermeil is gold over sterling silver, and the thickness is what separates it from plating. Standard gold plating measures around 0.5 microns and wears through with time. Our vermeil is laid at 2.5 microns of 18k gold, five times that depth, over solid silver rather than brass.

The result wears like gold and lasts like gold, at a fraction of the weight in cost. It is the reason a Marosi piece can be worn regularly rather than kept for occasions.

Made in small batches

Each design is produced in small runs by a single workshop, hand-finished rather than mass-cast. Small batches mean we can choose stones individually and stop making something when the right material is no longer available.

Repaired, not replaced

We repair Marosi pieces for as long as you own them. Re-polishing, re-plating, restringing, resetting a stone that has loosened with wear. A piece built on solid silver can be brought back, and we would rather bring it back than sell you another.
